Natural Areas Conservation Program: First annual progress report
September 11, 2014 to March 31, 2019
In 2014 the Government of Canada committed an additional $100 million to extend the Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP).
In July 2015, the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) submitted the first annual progress report to the Government of Canada. This report highlights accomplishments from September 2014–May 2015.
NCC is pleased to report excellent progress. As of March 31, 2015, NCC has protected an additional 11,340 acres (4,600 hectares) of ecologically significant lands. These lands provide habitat for 195 COSEWIC-assessed species at risk.
As of November 30, 2015 the NACP has conserved 400,000 hectares (988,422 acres) since 2007.
